I know it all sounds a bit like the TV show ‘Get Smart’ but if we don’t get smart what hope have we got in beating the bad guys?
Don’t laugh, we now have computerised wrist watches and Alexia can control our day!
But on the downside of the rapid leaps and bounds in technology that makes our life easier and more accessible to information there is always a downside.
For those of you who may not be aware, the Dark Web is the current market place for trading your name, phone number, user name, passwords, bank account details, TFN and anything else they can get their hands on to steal your identity in exchange for bitcoin.
And given I have been harping on not just protecting your own data and that you are responsible for the data that belongs to your customers as well, then this handy little tool is brilliant.
But let me first tell you a little a bit more about the Dark web where without a shadow of a doubt your identity user name and passwords have a BIG chance of having already been stolen and are currently being sold for bitcoin currency.
Why would I be so confident to say BIG chance?
Because we as humans are inherently lazy.
We use the same password over and over.
We don’t put adequate protection in place and we are just sitting ducks for a hacker to simply step in, steal our identity and sell it on the dark web.
THE DARK WEB
You and I know the web as Google, Facebook, Amazon and so on, right?
But there is another part of the web that is protected by a Tor encryption tool, so it cannot be accessed or found easily.
The Dark Web is a term that refers specifically to a collection of websites that exist on an encrypted network and cannot be found by using traditional search engines or visited by using traditional browsers.
Deep down in the dark web is where you will find the world of hackers, terrorists, drug dealers and any else that is completely illegal but RELIANT on not getting caught so identity theft is very useful for their illegal practices.
So, you may be thinking this all sounds very interesting, a bit like spy espionage, but how does this relate to me in any remote way?
CYBER CRIME IN THE DARK WEB IS A MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS
In an article “Re-Hashed: 2018 Cybercrime Statistics: A closer look at the “Web of Profit” which was published on the 27th September 2018, it was reported that in 2018
Cybercrime will generate at least $1.5 trillion this year—and that’s conservative
And that in 2019 it will increase so this means it is a thriving industry and your identity details and that of your customers are worth A LOT of money.
As we are committed to your business reputation and safety we wanted you to know that we will be able to give you access to the cutting-edge tools through partnerships we have formed.
Think of it as we have taken the hard-time-consuming work away from you and found the best deals to create your armoury against cyber attack by partnering with others.
Through our joint partnership with McNair, we can access ID Agent to keep your credentials safe by going down into the Dark Web, where we can then monitor your business and personal credentials and alert you if anything is found.
ID Agent can keep your domain safe, email safe and cannot be accessed unless you are a partner.
Therefore, we are pretty excited to announce that we can access this for you as part of your Defence Plan which would allow you to carry on your business and not have to constantly worry about not knowing if your credentials have been stolen and sunsequently found on the Dark Web.
Should you wish to find out more about this incredibly handy little tool, please don’t hesitate to contact me on gary@cynsoura.com.au and we can chat about your situation and your business needs.
Once again, I appreciate the opportunity to work with you to keep your business safe online
Cheers
